Difficult start ... life as a young single mum was a struggle for Maria
(Well, if I was padding about heavily pregnant wearing that bra, I'm not surprised it was a difficult start.)
When the Sun ran this piece they opted not to use a picture of me, but of a pregnant woman in sexy underwear who looks like she is ready to give birth in about ten seconds, but is seemingly up for a steamy session beforehand.
I should probably be annoyed that I have been represented in such a low life way. (Yeah right. She has smoother skin than me, and better thighs.)
Just to clear up a few things:
I'm not still pregnant almost eleven years later.
My belly button never popped out like that.
I only wore such underwear when I shopped at Ethel Austin, or I was on a promise. I'm a Debenham's girl now. I'm more likely to wear something like this.

I thought to myself yesterday 'it's ages since i read a book, I'm going to get one'. So i get through the day and the evening with this book sitting in the bag begging me to pick it up. Bedtime 10pm as always, usually asleep by 10.15. I thought I'd just read the prologue, so 2 and a half hours later i force myself to put the book down knowing that i have to up for the kids arriving at 7.30 (childminder). I then just had to read a bit more in the bath. I managed to leave it alone until I'd dropped the Children at school, I promised that i would read for 30 minutes and then do housework for 30 minutes, but oh no I couldn't put it down no matter how hard i tried, so now I sit here having read your bolg and thinking this is great I can carry on reading this book. It hasn't ended abruptly like all the other books. There really is somnething about reading a little snippet of a persons life and being able to relate to it in someway (being the single working mother whose life seems so far away from the 2.4 families that are around here) Thank you so much for such a fantastic read and dragging me away from my world for a while.
Thank you alimillipede for such a charming review! Though I'm sure you deserve a nap after such a late night.
I don't think you're alone, the book seems to hook people in. Maybe it is the drugs it is coated in. I'm so glad it you liked it xxxx
Hi Maria, have had lunch with Judith today and she reminded me about your blog. Congratulations on the book, will be ordering it when I've posted this comment.
Is that bump real? I know it's not "your" bump, but it doesn't look real to me! Either that or the poor woman was deprived of chips.
Best wishes, Kathryn (CJ) xx
What? You didn't wear this kind of underwear when heavily pregnat? No floating around the house in a sexy negligee? That's scandalous!
metropolitan mum, I'm ashamed to admit I wore trackie bottoms and a baggy tshirt, I wasn't aware of this lovely maternity stuff they have now.
Thanks Kathryn, hope you enjoy the book xx
